Avid Reader Blog

A short description about your blog

Avid went to see the lovely Kate Lee from our cafe in Frank Theatre's production of "Up Jumped the Devil" at the Cremorne Theatre.  Songs by Nick Cave, masterfully performed by the Frank team, seriously high-camp fun with many costume and set changes and Kate Lee looking oh so sexy.  There is even nudity - but in the most tasteful way.

Last chance to see the show is this wednesday to friday.  Book now or it will sell out.

If you haven't had your fix after seeing Frank's version of Nick Cave, then get yourself a copy of Cave's new book "The Death of Bunny Munro"  we have three versions,  Australian paperback cover, UK fluffy bunny cover in hardback, and the fabulous audio book read by Nick Cave himself.

Or, is it fostering an entirely new form of journalism? Join veteran journalists Margaret Simons and Matthew Condon in exploring how old media is meeting its digital future. When: 6.30pm, Thursday 22 October
Where: Studio, The Edge, State Library Queensland
Cost: FREE. To make a booking please call QWC 07 3839 1243, or email qldwriters@qwc.asn.au.

Hey Avidians.  We have slapped together a new beaut Magazine.  It is up on line but we prefer our old fashioned paper version, so pop in to the shop and pick it up so you can practice your marginalia.  We think this is the best yet, with an extended interview with the very talented Wells Tower, an article on the co-dependance of writers and bookshops and an interview with Jeff Lindsay of Dexter fame.  Seriously not to be missed.  Also we have all the goss about which books were our best sellers in 2009 so far.  A riiiiiiiiper.
