STRUCTURE AND PLOT - with Melanie Myers
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Story structure is the invisible architecture that takes a reader on a journey from the beginning of a story to the end. When done well, the structure of a narrative keeps readers engaged and interested, maintains anticipation and tension, and artfully reveals key plot points at just the right moments. In this workshop, participants will learn the difference between plot and structure, and how structure can be crafted to create satisfying plot arcs in short- and longform fiction, and nonfiction.
Through a series of guided readings and exercises, participants will forensically examine structural techniques and devices at both the micro (scene) and macro (whole story) level and learn how to apply them to their own writing.
